Law Professor Alfred Yankovic Pens Outkast Parody

by christopher taylor

LEXINGTON, VA--Alfred Yankovic, a professor at Washington and Lee University's School of Law, set humorous lyrics about the late Justice Robert H. Jackson to Outkast's "Mrs. Jackson" in order to amuse his Constitutional Law students.

"We already thought Professor Yankovic was weird," commented Brian Weber. "But when he started singing 'I'm sorry Jus' Jackson / Rehnquist's for real' I just about lost it. I mean, perhaps it was worth pointing out that Jackson's clerk during Brown--who wrote that infamous "separate but equal works" memo--is our current Chief Justice. Maybe it was even worth spending half of a class period on the subject. But did it need to be sung?"
